The Houston Rockets are looking for their first win of the season against the Dallas Mavericks when they visit the American Airlines Center on Friday night. The Mavericks defeated the Rockets in their first meeting of the season, but both teams are coming off wins and are looking to gain some momentum.

Raymond Felton led Dallas with 23 points and six rebounds while Charlie Villanueva added 19 points and five rebounds in the 110-98 win against Houston at Toyota Center last Nov. 14. Both players were in the starting lineup as Wesley Matthews and Dirk Nowitzki were unavailable to play due to injuries.

The Rockets got their eighth win of the season on Wednesday when they defeated the struggling New Orleans Pelicans 108-101. James Harden scored 24 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished six assists while Terrence Jones contributed 15 points, four rebounds and two blocks off the bench.

Ty Lawson, who was a part of trade rumors the past few days, had 12 points and six assists in 29 minutes of play. "Lawson and James have had a bunch of conversations and I think in those conversations they are starting to learn each other, starting to figure each other out and Ty is able to feel more comfortable. He got more minutes tonight because he deserved them," interim head coach J.B. Bickerstaff said.

Dallas snapped a five-game road losing streak when they outlasted the Portland Trail Blazers in an overtime win at the Moda Center last Tuesday 115-112. It was the first game in Portland for Wesley Matthews since signing with the Mavs this offseason. He received a standing ovation from the crowd, but he had a good game with 18 points, five rebounds and two steals.

"It was amazing. I didn't really know what to expect, but these fans have been amazing to me since I got here. It meant a lot," Matthews said after the game. He signed a four-year, $70 million deal with the Mavericks after playing five years in Portland.

Deron Williams had a vintage performance with 30 points, six rebounds and eight assists while Dirk Nowitzki added 28 points, eight rebounds and six assists. "We had a lead early, lost it, and then we just never really found a good rhythm until the end. I think that says a lot about our team and about the fight we have," Williams said.

Even though the Mavericks won the first matchup of the season, the Rockets have won six of the past nine meetings. Tip-off in Dallas starts at 8:30 p.m. ET and is available via NBA League Pass while it is also broadcasted locally on FSSW and ROOT.
