Xbox One Remote Play on Smartphones Possible But a Long Shot, Says Microsoft Rep
Microsoft's Xbox One remote play is not coming soon, so don't keep high hopes on that feature, at least not in the near future.
According to TechRadar, Xbox One trails the PlayStation 4 when it comes to this feature, saying that Microsoft has no concrete plans about it. They have not made the step in integrating the Xbox One to smartphones despite making streaming possible on Windows 10 tablets and the PC. The recent launching of Windows 10 has significantly delivered more features on the Xbox One, but it certainly did not reach to the mobile platform.
Unlike the PlayStation 4, the gaming console was literally configured with devices such as the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium. As for the Xbox One, even the presence of the Windows 10 OS did not make the remote play feature possible.
TechRadar was able to talk to a Microsoft spokesperson, where the rep stated, "There are number of considerations to take into account for smartphone compatibility, although technically it should be possible."
Some of these considerations include the platform where players are bound to take their games to the smaller screen, and while Microsoft is aware that there is a number of players who wish to see Xbox games on the mobile platform, the company is not keen on jumping to the idea just because Sony already did.
Should Microsoft decide to configure Xbox One games to the mobile platform, the recent Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL is deemed the perfect candidate to receive such feature. If players have been enjoying their games on the big screen, what's the idea on bringing it to a smaller screen and squeezing everything else in it?
Trusted Reviews mentions that Microsoft is aware of the possibility of integration and it's not impossible, given how technology has evolved. The thing is, Microsoft has not prioritized putting their beloved Xbox games to a smaller platform when their players are currently enjoying versions of them on laptops and PCs.
Xbox One is known to be inferior with the PlayStation 4 when it comes to console sales, and the remote play issue may post another setback for the Microsoft product. But like what they say, there's too much to consider before they can finally plunge to the idea.
What are your thoughts about Microsoft's inability to integrate their games to the mobile platform? Do you think this is a setback on their part or just another feature that doesn't really give a positive or negative effect to the company?
