Xiaomi Mi 4 receives the official Windows 10 Mobile ROM. But for now, the firmware is available only for the LTE variant of the Chinese tech giant's flagship smartphone.

According to Win Beta, Xiaomi Mi 4 LTE users willing to give Windows 10 a try can access the ROM from the MIUI forum page. It also cited that since it is only compatible with the LTE versions, and users of units released in India are not eligible for the Windows 10 Mobile.

Meanwhile, MIUI shared an alternative way to access the ROM. Reportedly, users can register in Microsoft Insider Program, allowing users to be part of Mi and the Microsoft community. As members of the program, Xiaomi Mi 4 users can share their feedback, which could help in the development of future Windows system.

GSM Arena shared that even though Windows 10 Mobile ROM for Xiaomi Mi 4 offers stable performance, users may still experience bugs from it.

Xiaomi Mi 4 was officially released on August 2014, according to GSM Arena. It is a 5-inch smartphone with IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen boasting of 1080 x 1920p resolution and 441 ppi pixel density. At launch, it came pre-installed with Android 4.4.3 KitKat OS.

Under its hood, it uses a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset and a quad-core Krait 400 processor clocked at 2.5 GHz. It is equipped with Adreno 330 for its GPU. 16 GB and 64 GB variants both with 3 GB of RAM are available for Xiaomi Mi 4. It has 13 MP primary camera and 8 MP lens sensor for the selfie shooter.

Meanwhile, according to Windows Central, Microsoft's Windows 10 Mobile is the most recent iteration of the Windows operating system. On Feb. 12, the mobile OS was was first "released as an opt-in Technical Preview 2 (build 9941)."

It was made available to various Lumia smartphones such as the Lumia 635, 730 and 830. The post described Windows 10 Mobile as Microsoft first attempt to "unify their desktop, tablet, and phone operating systems into a single OS."

"As such, Windows 10 on the phone shares many of the same features as its desktop version, including the same kernel, UI elements, menus, Settings, and even Cortana," the report further added. "It will also support Continuum on some, newer smartphones, allowing a desktop-like experience by plugging the phone into an external monitor."
