'Resident Evil 2' for PS4, Xbox One Will Be Full Remake, Not Just a Remastered Edition
Capcom elucidates on confusions regarding the upcoming Resident Evil 2 title. Accordingly, the game will be a full remake and not only a remastered version.
GameRant reported that Resident Evil 2, a game currently in development, is going to be a total remake and will not only be a graphically improved copy of an older version. It cited a Twitter post from the senior marketing director of Capcom UK, Stuart Turner clarifying the matters.
The report noted that the most recent financial report of the company referred to the upcoming game as a "remastered version of Resident Evil 2." But to clear the mix-up caused by this, Turner said that it will be a "full from the ground up remake."

Seems to be a few people picking up a mistranslation in our own investor report. RE2 will be a full from the ground up remake NOT a remaster

According to IGN, RE 2 remake was first announced officially by Capcom in August. The upcoming game is in the works at Capcom's R&D Division 1, as cited on the post.
Moreover, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi is the one heading the development of the remake. He is also the producer of the 2015 remake of the original Resident Evil.
The remake was revealed in a statement by Hirabayashi during Capcom's "Special Message" announcement. "You've been telling us for years that you want Resident Evil 2 to be remade, and we haven't been able to make it happen...until now!" he said.
"We at R&D Division 1 will do our best to take on your feedback and deliver the gameplay experience you've been waiting for."
