With her two precious children, careers in the film and music industries and a booming business, everyone would think Jennifer Lopez has already achieved everything she wants in life. But according to her, everything that's happening is just the beginning and 2016 is going to be her year.

"It's gonna be a big year for me," she explains. "I have '[American] Idol', I have 'Shades [of Blue],' and I have my [Las] Vegas residency beginning. I have so much stuff that we're working on on the branding side. I don't know how I'd name it. It's gonna be a J. Lo year though. It's gonna be a real J. Lo year, whether you like it or not!" J. Lo told TV Guide Magazine.

Despite how positive her outlook is for the next year, Lopez shared that she used to receive negative criticism from people and oftentimes felt bad about it in the past.

She told Latina that most of the women in the entertainment industry are just "real girls" who enjoy hanging out with people just like ordinary people. That's why she doesn't understand why other people can be so mean sometimes that they have to say negative things to them, "As unusual as my life is, I'm very normal and kind of down to earth."

All those negative things changed when Lopez started doing American idol where people got the chance to know her a bit more. She said, "Once I did that show they could see my true personality, which was kind of just an emotional, happy person who was actually nice."

"Jenny from the block" personality and positive outlook in life has a lot to do with her upbringing. According to E Online she grew up in the Bronx neighborhood in downtown New York where she started to dream. She then decided to make dancing her profession which eventually led her to give up college. Her mom doesn't approve that, so she kicked her out. Her life was about flying and going off on her own, pounding the pavement, and breaking away from her parents' wings.

But now, after the ups and downs of her career and all the effort she gave, she is now considered one of the most inspirational Latinas in the industry both on and off screen.

"I am happy to be one of the people who are breaking the mold. We can't keep acting like we are in the '50s. Women are strong. Women are bold. And now it is reflected in our art," she shared.
