Beauty queen Ximena Navarrete is used to trying out different beauty looks for photo shoots, but her latest pays tribute to one of Mexico's most recognized women.

Navarrete's strong eyebrow and vintage style had all the flair of María Felix, whose birthday is on April 8.

"Today's campaign with @BSantosOficial inspired by María Felix with my team @itsalexcordova @jukajukajuka @VicoGuadarrama," she said on Twitter.

She shared a few of the pictures, which all looked very glamorous.

In one picture, she wears a red dress, a black hat, and she holds a cigarette in her hand. She poses between two vases, and her arms are full of jewelry.

In another picture, she wears a hood over her head, a red lip and black gloves. A snake bracelet sits on the outside of her glove, and her eyebrow is raised in classic Felix style. In an even more detailed shot, her whole body is visible. The dress has a slight '40s style, and she wears chunky bracelets on her arm.

Designer Benito Santos shares a few more snaps on his Instagram account. Santos and Navarrete maintain a close friendship, as he is her go-to designer.

The photo shoot is especially timely as María Felix would have celebrated her 100th birthday this year. The Golden Age actress of Mexican cinema died in 2002. She was a beauty queen and a receptionist for a plastic surgeon's office before she got into acting.

Her career started by chance. She was window shopping when Fernando Palacios, a director, asked if she wanted to be in movies. It took a bit of convincing, but she finally signed on.

She worked in Mexican, Spanish, French, Italian and Argentinean movies throughout her career. She made 47 movies but never broke into Hollywood.
