"Sherlock" Season 5 was never been confirmed however, the cast and crew are constantly stating cryptic messages. Fans are speculating that maybe there is a tiny amount of hope for another season.

According to Movie Pilot, many fans believe that "Sherlock" is due for at least one more season after Season 4 left many questions unanswered. They are already petitioning across social media to for Season 5.

"Sherlock" co-creator Steven Moffat has previously stated to The Telegraph that he would be moderately surprised if this turns out the end of the popular series. However, he has admitted some positive news related to the BBC series as well.

"The ratings were extremely good so I guess they'll ask us again, and then we'll have to see first of all if we have three films we want to make," Movie Pilot quoted Steven Moffat talking about "Sherlock". "And then if Benedict and Martin have the time, schedule and inclination."

It's true that "Sherlock" stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are currently busy with their Hollywood projects. They both have Marvel movies in their hands along with other works.

Benedict Cumberbatch was previously asked by AP about his return to "Sherlock". The actor didn't say yes but didn't deny the possibility either. According to him 'we'll see, we'll never say never and when it's right, and if it's right, we'll do more.'

Cumberbatch also stated to GQ UK that they have never said never on "Sherlock". He added that he would love to revisit it many times in future.

However, the actor admitted that in immediate future they all have other works they are involved with. For the time being it's more like a waiting game about how things will turn out for "Sherlock." The actor stated that the idea of never playing the character again is very annoying for him.

Martin Freeman, who is much appreciated as Dr.Watson on "Sherlock" told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show that they never know really know what will happen with the series. Since the BBC series is famous for launching a season every two to three years, fans are hoping that maybe in the next couple of years the cast and crew will be free enough to work again for a Season 5.
