VP Pence: Administration Is Clearing "Red Tape" to Make Coronavirus Tests More Accessible
Vice President Mike Pence said that the Trump administration is doing its best to make coronavirus tests more accessible by clearing out red tape.
In the previous report of Latin Post, it was found out in a study by a recent study conducted by Cedars-Sinai that there may have been more than 9,000 individuals who are infected with coronavirus who are not yet tested due to the lack of testing kit and testing centers.
This caught the attention of the Trump administration who is now making extra efforts to make testing kits more accessible and not only in selected states but across the country.
Vice President Pence said on Wednesday, "We are working every single day to clear out any red tape to make tests more and more available. Right now, every state lab in America can conduct testing,"
The announcement of VP Pence means that anyone who experienced COVID-19 symptoms can now call their doctor or physician and request for a coronavirus test in the state lab.
The announcement and the move to clear out the red tape was made after health officials in the country sounded the alarm due to the delays and shortage of testing kits.
A medical correspondent from another news outlet Dr. Marc Siegel has called on Monday for the immediate provision of coronavirus testing kits so that it will be made accessible and available to people who are experiencing signs of coronavirus.
It was also found out that several governors from different states have called the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to speed up the production and shipping the testing kits. They asserted this following the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country which is now a global health concern.
One of the factors of why there are only limited coronavirus tests conducted is because the lab at the CDC's headquarters was the only place with this capability and it put other states at disadvantage like California and Washington. It can be recalled that the first case of COVID-19 in the U.S. was in Washington.
The coronavirus tests will undergo three culture swabs. First, is from the nose. Second, is from the throat. Third, is from the upper lungs which require the patient to inhale deeply, cough, and spit-up saliva.
Moreover, Vice President Pence also added that the most important move of President Trump is to bring the leading commercial laboratories in the country like Quest and LabCorp to work with the administration and give the best service to its people.
VP Pence has also announced that they already the testing kits and are now ready for mass distribution in different states across the country. This will help to diagnose at an early stage the potential patients who have COVID-19 and will be treated as soon as possible before everything gets worst.
It is very clear that President Donald Trump is taking the problem seriously because this will have a big effect on the national economy of the country if this problem continues. This will bring more business establishments to shut down, schools will be closed, and even the entertainment industry will be affected.
