A Mexican inspired album that has Spanish and English tracks helped the Black Eyed Peas climb the third spot on Billboard's Top Latin Albums Chart.
"I was able to produce Translation and write in Spanish and sing in Spanish because of my colorful upbringings in East LA." This is how Black Eyed Peas lead member Will.i.am answered the question when asked about the inspiration of the album.
He also told Billboard that he wanted his childhood friends and their parents to know that he never forgot the Mexican culture that he was raised in. Will.i.am asserted that of all the albums that Black Eyed Peas produced, the 'Translation' truly repr esents his Mexican heritage and how he was raised.
The Black Eyed Peas new album 'Translation' took the third spot on the Top Latin Album Charts and made it also to take the 52nd spot on the Billboard's Top 200.
What Makes the Album Special?
Black Eyed Peas new album 'Translation' includes 15 songs and eight Spanish-English music. The album also features well-known Latin artists like J Balvin, Shakira, Maluma, Ozuna, Nicky Jam, Tyga, El Alfa, French Montana, and Becky G.
'Translation' was first launched on June 19 through BEP/Epic Information. This is also Black Eyed Peas' first album for Epic after working with Interscope Information.
Additionally, this is a brand new start for Black Eyed Peas first industrial set and after Fergie departed the group to take care of her son who was born in 2013.
In fact, the album immediately caught the attention of the group's fans and listeners. It has earned 15,000 equivalent albums before the end of June, according to Nielsen Music. Additionally, the album has 4,000 gross sales and the remaining items had been for streams.
What is in the Top Latin Albums Chart?
The Top Latin Album Chart ranks the hottest and the most popular Latin albums of the week in the U.S. The ranking is based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equal album items.
Will.i.am gave more details about the inspiration of the group's album. Black Eyed Peas lead member said that each tune needs to be the jam in curating the playlist.
He also added that there is also a need to chart music and throw different songs that listeners can enjoy. He also emphasized the big impact of Latin music on their album. At the top of these are "Ritmo" and "Mamacita."
It is as clear as water that Latin music is now accepted in the U.S. and now becomes one of the most played songs on different platforms. In fact, Latin Post reported last year that Latin music dominates Youtube in 2019.
Not only that, Latin music did not only dominate the U.S. music industry but also the United Kingdom where they topped in almost all music streaming platforms like Spotify. This just shows how Latin music is now becoming one of the best music genres in the world.
The Mexican-inspired album of Black Eyed Peas also shows how Will.i.am values his heritage. Producing a more diverse album by combining English and Spanish language could mean unity amid the systemic racism in the country.
