The IRS will fix the stimulus check errors, with the help of the Taxpayer Advocate Service, starting on Aug. 10.

In adjusting the stimulus check errors, the IRS will correct payment amounts for eligible American recipients in the coming weeks.

Recipients who are due an additional amount of money will receive it in the same form as their initial economic impact payment, unless it was on a debit card. If it was on a debit card, the recipient will receive paper check instead.

However, some eligible recipients will have to wait until they file their 2021 return to receive the corrected amount.

There are specific guidelines to know whether people can take action now, or will have to wait until next year. This also includes details on how to reach out for assistance.

Will Your Stimulus Check Errors Be Fixed Sooner?

The Taxpayer Advocate has laid out scenarios where individuals can qualify to have their stimulus check errors fixed this year, according to a Fox Business report.

Individuals can expect supplemental cash this week for those who used the IRS' nonfiler tool and claimed at least one qualifying child, but did not receive the qualifying portion of the payment.

The inured spouse's portion of the money can also be expected in the coming week.s

Victims of identity theft who did not receive their payment will also be sent the correct amount once the identity theft issue is resolved.

People who did not receive a stimulus check because they filed a joint return with a deceased spouse will also be included once the IRS recalculated the amount.

Second Stimulus Check

Democrats and Republicans are still working on the fourth and final stimulus relief package. This will include the second round of payments to tax-paying Americans.

There are two proposal being discussed on the issue of second round of stimulus checks.

One is the HEALS Act, where Americans would receive a second stimulus check up to $1,200 per individual

To qualify, Republicans will use the same criteria of the CARES Act. Millions of Americans are seen to receive money as early as next week if it is approved.

The second proposal is the CAAF Act. With this proposal, qualified recipients could receive $1,000 regardless of age or dependent status.

In CAAF Act, an eligible family of four could geta stimulus check worth $4,000.

Lawmakers are expected to sign the bill by the end of this week. IRS can start sending the second round of checks as early as Aug. 24.
