Many festivals have canceled or pivoted in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic to an entirely virtual program. The New York Latino Film Festival is one of the most popular Latinx-based film fests that continue with plans for their annual fest, this time, with proper adjustment and changes. The 21st edition of NYLFF will be a combination of virtual events in person and drive-in screenings that celebrate Latinx creators, as per DEADLINE.

The NYLFF will also host its first Latino drive-in experience that will take place both in the Bronx and New York. This year will feature almost 75 films that represent more than ten countries.the films are composed of all genres, such as experimental films, web series, documentaries, shorts, and features.

Calixto Chinchilla, Founder of NYLFF, said, "Inspired by the Latino community's resilience, NYLFF is proud to return with a fresh format featuring our first-ever drive-in experiences."

Chinchilla added that they are proud to serve as an essential platform for Latino creatives to share culturally relevant stories about diversity, intersectionality, and life experiences.

"Gracias to our sponsors for continuing to support our community of content creators and movie-goers. While there's much learned this year, one thing we can all agree, the culture continues!"

The New York Latino Film Festival's opener will be the fifteenth edition of the HBO series "Habla Now." The film gives personal and relatable stories from the well-known Latino personalities such as Mexican American Environmental Activist Xiuhtezcatl Martinez, Dominican Singer/Actress/Activist Amara La Negra, Colombian Actress Diane Guerrero, Puerto Rican Olympian Laurie Hernandez, among others.

The fest includes the New York premiere of Angel Manuel Soto's" Charm City Kings." "Charm City Kings" marks the feature directorial debut and the journey of a 14-year-old Mouse who desperately wants to join the Midnight Clique, an infamous group of dirt-bike riders ruling the summertime streets.

Aside from "Charm City Kings," John Leguizamo's "Critical Thinking" will also have its New York premiere.
