President Joe Biden has celebrated the nearing end of the pandemic during his Fourth of July speech at a White House party on Sunday.

Joe Biden made his comments in front of the crowd composed of military families, frontline workers, and administration staff members during Independence Day celebrations on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, D.C., USA Today reported.

Bloomberg reported that a crowd of more than 1,000 people was invited to view the Independence Day fireworks on the South Lawn.

The Biden administration pushed a vaccine rollout that helped at least 67 percent of adult Americans get a dose of the COVID vaccine.

During his speech, the president said the U.S. nears in declaring "independence" against the deadly virus.

"Two hundred and forty-five years ago we declared independence from a distant king. Today we're closer than ever to declaring our independence from a deadly virus," Joe Biden said in his address.

The chief executive also underscored that although the virus has not yet been eliminated, it no longer controls the lives of Americans, as well as paralyzes the nation.

He also took time to recognize the more than 600,000 Americans who died from COVID-19 during the onset of the pandemic.

Apart from celebrating the nearing end of the pandemic in the U.S., Joe Biden also mentioned the signs of the U.S. gradually returning to normalcy. The president highlighted the said signs as reopening of schools, an economic recovery that was faster than expected, and the recommencement of some indoor activities.

"We're seeing a record job creation and record economic growth - the best in four decades, and I might add, the best in the world," he noted.

Joe Biden Appeals on Unvaccinated Americans

Aside from celebrating the nearing end of the pandemic in the U.S., Joe Biden also took the opportunity to promote the COVID-19 vaccines among unvaccinated Americans.

"My fellow Americans, it is the most patriotic thing you can do, so please if you have not gotten vaccinated, do it now. Do it for yourselves, your loved ones, and your communities," the president during his speech in the White House.

Biden's comments came as Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, also addressed the anti-vaxxers, urging them to set aside their "non-scientific" ideologies and take the COVID-vaccines.

Biden's thoughts on the vaccine-hesitant Americans came as concerns about the Delta COVID variants continues to grow in the U.S. The Hill reported as of the previous week, the Delta variant was detected in all 50 states in the U.S.

"The best defense against these variants is to get vaccinated," said Joe Biden, as he implored Americans who have not taken the vaccine to get inoculated as soon as possible.
