President Joe Biden called for the resignation of Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo after a report alleged that he has sexually harassed 11 women.

At the White House press briefing, Biden told reporters that Cuomo should resign amid the allegations, CNBC reported.

"I think he should resign... I'm sure there are some embraces that were totally innocent, but apparently the attorney general decided there were things that weren't," the president said.

New York State House Speaker Carl Heastie announced that the state legislature would immediately seek to end its impeachment inquiry into the governor.

Joe Biden was not the only Democratic lawmaker to call for the governor's resignation. Democrats in Albany and Washington had done the same. However, the president said he has not yet read the report or speak to Andrew Cuomo.

Andrew Cuomo's Impeachment

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand released a joint statement and described the allegations against the New York governor as disturbing, inappropriate, and completely unacceptable, NBC News reported.

They noted that no elected official is above the law, adding that they continue to believe that the governor should resign.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi shared the same sentiments with the senators. Pelosi said Andrew Cuomo should resign out of his love of New York and his respect for the office he holds.

Reps. Carolyn Maloney, Jerry Nadler, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had also said that the report against the governor is deeply disturbing. The accusations against Andrew Cuomo include sexual comments and grabbing women.

Sexual Harassment Report Against the New York Governor

On Tuesday, the state's attorney general said that Andrew Cuomo kissed, groped, or made suggestive comments to 11 women in violation of the law, prompting local prosecutors to start a criminal investigation and calls for him to resign or be impeached.

Reuters reported that the findings of a five-month probe into allegations of sexual harassment also discovered that the governor had created a "toxic" workplace and his office illegally retaliated against the first accuser after she went public.

State Attorney General Letitia James revealed the report's conclusions. James said the investigation found a disturbing pattern of attitude by the governor, with the 11 women being placed in a hostile and toxic work environment.

James' office noted that the investigation found Cuomo's conduct and his senior advisers to violate several state and federal laws.

The state's attorney general noted that the investigators spoke to 179 people, including state troopers, state employees, and others who "interacted regularly" with the governor.

The reports found that Andrew Cuomo harassed several women, many of them were still young. Anne Clark was a state trooper and was one of the women that Cuomo targeted.

Clark claimed that the governor stood behind her in an elevator, and "ran his finger" from her neck, down her spine. She added that Cuomo had touched her from her chest to her private parts. However, Cuomo continued to deny the said allegations against him.

The New York governor said that he would not be distracted from his work fighting the spread of the pandemic. Cuomo maintains that he never touched anyone inappropriately or made any sexual advances.

Two veterans outside attorneys were also involved in the investigation, namely Joon Kim and Clark. Kim was a former federal prosecutor and acting U.S. attorney in Manhattan, while Clark is an employment lawyer experienced in handling sexual harassment cases.

Kim said that Cuomo's workplace had rampant bullying and intimidation. Meanwhile, a lawyer defending Andrew Cuomo, Rita Glavin, had accused James of bias.
