Packers: NBA Icon Charles Barkley Hits Aaron Rodgers With 'Pretty Girl' Roast Amid Murky Future in Green Bay
NBA icon Charles Barkley has something to say about Packers star Aaron Rodgers amid the controversy regarding his future NFL team after this off-season.
In an interview with ESPN 1000's Waddle and Silvy on Friday, Barkley likened Rodgers to a "pretty girl" when he was asked if the Packers star was "being selfish for taking so long to decide on whether he was returning to play or retiring," per Sports Mockery.
"I think he's the pretty girl that you gotta tell her she's pretty every day," Barkley said, per Sports Illustrated. The NBA icon added that Rodgers is like the kind of girl who always says "Oh, I don't look god today?."
"Like, I told you five days In a row you good. I gotta tell you every day apparently," Berkley added.
NBA Star Charles Barkley on Aaron Rodgers' Allegedly Pursuit of Being Highest-Paid NFL Player
Barkley's "pretty girl" comment about Rodgers came after reports about the Packers star's pursuit of becoming the highest-paid NFL athlete.
He commented about the issue in his interview on Friday, but he did not blatantly mention Rodgers as he addressed the controversy with NFL quarterbacks in general, calling the players "greedy pigs."
"Why don't these guys [quarterbacks] take less money like Tom Brady so you can pay other players? Every player, you go back and look at the last 10 to 15 quarterbacks with the exception of Tom Brady, they all became the highest paid player," Barkley underscored.
Barkley also stressed that every NFL quarterback who has gotten big money never won a super bowl again. He then mention players, including Joe Flacco, Russel Wilson, and Drew Brees.
It can be recalled that in February, ESPN's Diana Russini claimed on The "Rich Eisen Show" that the Packers quarterback "wants to be the highest-paid player" in NFL, estimating that Rodgers wanted a pay around $50 million annually, CBS Sports reported.
However, Rodgers answered the allegations about him, claiming that what Russini said was "categorically false."
Currently, Aaron Rodgers has an annual payment with a cap hit of nearly $47 million for the upcoming season. However, if the quarterback gets a new contract, the Packers could shave around $20 million to $25 million or more, per CBS Sports.
Aaron Rodgers Trade
NBA icon Charles Barkley's comment about Aaron Rodgers came as the player's decision to stay with Packers or sign with another NFL team has not been officially addressed by the quarterback.
However, his teammate Aaron Jones thinks that Rodgers will stay with them next season.
"I think he'll be there, in my heart. Green Bay, I can't imagine him anywhere else," Jones underscored, adding that they had a lot of fun in the games this year.
Meanwhile, Packers legend Charles Woodson has a different stand on the issue, saying that the team would be considering trading Rodgers based on their current roster of players.
Woodson said that the Packers have a good defense, but the team needs to make its offense "catch up."
