Kim Kardashian faced backlash after a devotee of Marilyn Monroe claimed that the actress' famous "Happy Birthday Mr. President" dress worn by the reality star at the recent Met Gala was allegedly damaged.

According to Daily Mail, the Marilyn Monroe Collection shared on Instagram on Monday the photos of the dress allegedly on display at Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum now has "missing crystals," and some were "left hanging by a thread."

According to the account run by historian and collector Scott Fortner, the viral photos in question were taken by ChadMichael Morrisette at the museum's Hollywood location on June 12.

"So much for keeping "the integrity of the dress and the preservation." @ripleysbelieveitornot, was it worth it," the devotee captioned in the photo.

The photo shared by the Marilyn Monroe devotee showed the before and after of the famous dress. A photo allegedly taken before the Met Gala showed that the dress was in good condition and intact. However, the other image of the dress showed worn-out parts near its zipper after last month's gala.

The photo showed some of the crystals missing on the dress, and others were hanging by a thread.

The post also cited some details in the statement of Ripley's about the reality star borrowing the dress, including several reports about the handling and security efforts of Kim, her team, and a Ripley's representative who was allowed to pull the plug whenever they wished.

One person commented: "Missing so many crystals and those tears. What a disaster!!"

Another added: "Not only the stretching around the zipper, but if you look at the upper-ish left side, there are several crystals missing!"

Images of Marilyn Monroe Dress That Kim Kardashian Wore in Met Gala Was' Inaccurate,' Source Says

A source close to Kim Kardashian told the Daily Mail that the images uploaded by the Marilyn Monroe devotee on Instagram were inaccurate.

The source noted that the allegations about Kim ruining the famous dress were "false." The insider said the Marilyn Monroe dress had signs of wear before Ripley's bought it, adding that the reality star only wore it for less than 15 minutes.

In a Met Gala red carpet interview, Kim said she had to lose 16 pounds in three weeks to fit into the dress. However, she noted that she was still unable to zip it, so she added a white fur shawl to hide the opening in the back.

According to reports, Kim only wore the original dress for her red carpet appearance. She changed into a replica before making her way to the Met Gala.

The reality star, who was the first person to don the gown since Marilyn Monroe wore it in 1962, was accused of promoting unhealthy body standards after detailing her extreme weight loss to fit into it apart from risking damage to the gown by wearing it.

"Riverdale" actress Lili Reinhart seemed to call out Kim for her confession without mentioning her by name.

"To walk on a red carpet and do an interview where you say how starving you are... because you haven't eaten carbs in the last month... all to fit in a fucking dress? So wrong... so fucked on 100s of levels," Reinhart noted.

The Kardashian defended her statement, claiming in an interview with The New York Times that it was never her intention to inspire others to do the same, adding that she did not do anything unhealthy in the process.

Marilyn Monroe's 'Happy Birthday Mr. President' Dress

Marilyn Monroe wore the iconic "Happy Birthday" dress when she sang "Happy Birthday, Mr. President," in May 1962 at a fundraiser for then-President John F. Kennedy and the Democratic National Committee.

Monroe sang the song 10 days before Kennedy's actual birthday. The dress was sheer and form-fitting, dotted with dazzling beads of more than 2,500 rhinestones.

The price of the dress now is worth $13,700.
