A Wisconsin man came to the Wisconsin State Capitol to look for Governor Tony Evers. However, he did it while armed and shirtless with a leashed dog. He was arrested soon after but then returned to the state Capitol, this time armed with a loaded assault-style rifle.

According to USA Today, the armed Wisconsin man was identified as Joshua "Taco" Pleasnick. He was described as "shirtless, with a leashed dog and wearing a holstered handgun" when he went to the State Capitol and was specifically looking for Governor Evers.

The 43-year-old Madison, Wisconsin native reportedly approached the security desk outside Evers' office and told the people there that he would not leave until he saw the governor. However, Tony Evers was not in the building at that time.

This led Madison police to arrest Pleasnick and charged him with openly carrying a firearm inside the Capitol building. In Wisconsin, openly carrying a gun in the state Capitol is a crime. The Wisconsin man reportedly wanted to talk to Governor Evers regarding "domestic abuse towards men."

The Capitol police officer who was sitting at a nearby desk arrested him. It is noted that weapons are only allowed in the State Capitol if that person has a valid permit and that weapon is concealed. Pleasnick did not have any such permit.

Wisconsin Man Returned to the State Capitol After Arrest With a Bigger Gun

The Wisconsin Man was soon booked into the Dane County Jail but he got out after posting bail. However. shortly before 9:00 PM, he returned to the State Capitol, and he was not just carrying a handgun as he came back armed with a loaded assault-style rifle and a collapsible police baton.

This happened when the Capitol was already closed but was once again demanding to see Governor Evers. However, this posturing once again led to him being taken into custody.

According to the Associated Press, the Wisconsin man claimed that "he did not own a vehicle and it is likely he has access to a large amount of weapons and is comfortable using them." Police took him into protective custody and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Pleasnick reportedly appeared on a podcast Tuesday and went on a profanity-laden rant where he promised to burn down the system "with love" because it is corrupt. He also complained about how he was treated by the court system and about "illegally selling weapons, working in gun stores with explosives and machine guns, attempting suicide," and dealing with PTSD.

Wisconsin Man Threatening Governor Tony Evers Latest in Series of Violent Threats Vs. Officials

More and more officials have been receiving threats as of late, including Tony Evers who was on a hit list of a gunman suspected of fatally shooting a retired county judge in Wisconsin back in 2022.

The hitlist included both Democrats and Republicans, as it also had Democratic Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnel of Kentucky.

In New Mexico, a disgruntled former Republican candidate was arrested for opening fire at the houses of elected Democrats while Governor Whitmer herself was the target of a kidnapping plot by a pro-Trump militia group.
