Since Sidney Powell flipped, former President Donald Trump has been denying that she was ever his lawyer. However, a previous filing from Special Counsel Jack Smith may disprove that claim, as a legal expert pointed out.

Powell has now pleaded guilty and has agreed to cooperate with authorities and testify against her other co-defendants in exchange for not being jailed. However, this received the ire of Trump.

While former social media posts have already debunked that claim, with Trump infamously announcing Powell as part of his legal "Strike Force" of lawyers on Twitter (now X), legal analyst Lisa Rubin pointed out that there is a piece of more concrete evidence that debunked Trump's claims. According to Newsweek, she noted Trump's then-assistant Molly Michael had sent Powell and other lawyers "a document containing bullet points critical of a certain voting machine company." This company is likely Dominion, and the document also includes instructions to "include as is, or almost as is, in lawsuit."

"Smith alleges Powell not only did as told, but that Trump promoted the resulting case via Tweet before it was filed," the legal analyst posted on X. She suggested that this filing from Jack Smith further called into question Trump's claim that Powell never acted as his lawyer, as she was clearly being instructed like one of his attorneys.

Powell then responded to the emails, noting that the bullet points Trump presented "must go in all lawsuits" filed in Georgia and Pennsylvania. However, her attempts to prove that there was massive voter fraud in those states did not end well for her.

Powell has gotten a reputation for her wild conspiracy theories regarding the election as she vowed to "release the Kraken" of evidence proving the elections were stolen. However, in her various filings on behalf of Trump, the evidence she presented was not deemed credible and had her cases thrown out.

Sidney Powell Had Repeated Meetings With Donald Trump After 2020 Election

A report from The New Yorker pointed out that shortly after she was kicked out of Trump's legal team, Powell continued to meet with Trump and his allies. This included the infamous December 2020 meeting, where they discussed ordering the military to seize voting machines.

Powell's influence in Trump's inner circle was so big that the former president even thought about naming her "Special Counsel" to investigate voting fraud. However, this never happened, as many of their cases have already been debunked by courts.

When Sidney Powell flipped, it was bad for Trump. However, things got worse when the man behind the fake electors scheme, Kenneth Chesebro, also flipped, and ore flips could come in that sprawling 19-defendant RICO case.

As Georgia attorney Chandelle Summer noted, ''Once you get a couple people pleading, it starts sort of an avalanche of pleas."

Chesebro and Powell, as well as co-defendant Scott Hall, all managed to avoid going to jail in exchange for their guilty pleas and testimonies against their co-defendants. Getting a slap on the wrist would indeed sound like a better option than landing in jail, as experts expect more flips to happen soon.

Their testimonies could also affect the federal case headed by Jack Smith over in Washington, DC. Both Powell and Chesebro are reportedly the unindicted co-conspirators in that case and could become central witnesses against former president Trump. Anybody else who flips might help out in that case as well.
