Everyone is dying to know the secrets of Season 5 of "The Walking Dead" before its October premiere, but do the comic books tell all?

A big question to be answered in Season 5 is that of Terminus and whether or not its habitants are cannibals. The theory developed from Robert Kirkman's comic books from which the AMC show is based, but Scott M. Gimple, TV show showrunner, warns against expecting the show to mirror the comics exactly.

"... though there is stuff from the comics this season, there is also some stuff that is very much from the imagination of the writers, who include Robert Kirkman, that is not from the comics," he told Entertainment Weekly. "It can be inspired by the comics, it can be totally different from the comics. Terminus simply wasn't in the comics, and it's its own thing. It might circle back to aspects of the comic, it might be more of a long road to other things in the comic."

In addition to Terminus, the new season will tackle of theme of "Okay, they can't go back. Who do they become?"

"This season will define these characters," Gimple teased. "... It's going to be an interesting journey for all of these characters. A lot of them had much better journeys to Terminus than others. ... This season, they all kind of wind up in the same place. Physically, that's beginning, and emotionally, I think that's going to catch up with each other."

This new episode will also see an increasingly brutal Rick (Andrew Lincoln).

"Something that's interesting about this season, and the story, and the world going forward, is that anybody who's around has to have a certain amount of power, and they have to be some kind of formidable. And I think Rick is sort of at the height of that," Gimple explained.

According to Gimple, the romance between Rosita (Christian Serratos) and Abraham (Michael J. Cudlitz) will be delved into more.

"We're going to be definitely examining his past and certain things are taken directly from the comics, as Scott has said, and certain things are paying homage to the comics," Cudlitz told EW. "I think people who are fans of the comics and people who know nothing about it will be equally satisfied with the reveal of Abraham's past and what is driving him. We're definitely going into all of the characters, what drives them this year."

Season of "The Walking Dead" begins on AMC on Oct. 12 at 9 p.m.
