NFL Scores Week 2: Thursday Night Football Recap - Chiefs Down Eagles in Reid's Return to Philly
Andy Reid looks much different these days as he dons a bright red cap and jacket, but what isn't different is his ability to lead a team to victory at Lincoln Financial Field.
Just months after Reid was fired from the Philadelphia Eagles, the Chiefs head coach went back to his old stomping grounds and coached his new team to a 26-16 win on Thursday Night Football.
"After the game is where you felt it, when the players were coming up," Reid said to ESPN's Ashley Fox. "After the game, I just appreciated what the guys were all about. ... Every game is so important in this league, you try to put [beating the Eagles] out of your mind. I love those kids over there. That's not how I look at it. I look at it is it's a game, and you've got to cut through all of that other stuff. I've been doing it too long to feel all of that."
The Chiefs have gone from being the 2-14 laughingstock of the league a year ago to a promising 3-0 start under the new coach. Against the Eagles on Thursday night, Kansas City jumped out to a 16-6 lead at the half and never allowed the turnover-prone Eagles to come back.
Eagles quarterback Michael Vick completed a dismal 13 of 30 passes, threw two interceptions, and lost a fumble in what was his worst game in awhile. The porous Eagles defense didn't do any better, allowing Jamal Charles and Co. to rush for 147 yards on the ground.
The Eagles slipped to 1-2 on the season while the Chiefs remain undefeated. Next week Kansas City will take on the New York Giants, another NFC East team that Reid is very familiar with.
