Untethered iOS 8 Jailbreak: 8 Easy Steps For Getting the Pangu Update [Video]
The latest iOS 8 jailbreak update from the Chinese jailbreak developer team Pangu gives smartphone and tablet users much more stability.
iDigital Times reports that the update mainly fixes three things:
- The restarting issue
- iMessage bug
- The Safari app crashing
What it doesn't do is address Cydia being a separate install. While a side-loading Cydia is possible, it is recommended that users wait for the Pangu version that includes Cydia built-in.
How to Get the Pangu iOS 8 Jailbreak Update
If you have already installed the iOS 8 jailbreak, the following eight steps enable you to use the Pangu team's tool to update to v0.2:
- Before updating, disable your passcode.
- Turn off "Find My iPhone" app.
- Tap on the Pangu app found on your Home screen
- To access the Untether update, tap the Manager tab at the screen bottom.
- Tap the Update tab to choose the Pangu 8.0-8.1 Untether update.
- Choose the Download arrow icon to install.
- Once installed, you'll be asked to reboot your device to complete the installation.
- Once the update is done, you can enable your passcode and "Find My iPhone."
If you experienced Safari app or iMessage issues previously, you should find those problems fixed.
For anyone having trouble using the iOS 8 jailbreak update, the Pangu team tweeted some advice.
"About update: If you already installed Mobile Substrate and other tweaks, for some compatibility issues, this may cause the springboard process to keep crashing. In this case, please reboot your iOS device and at the same time keep holding the + volume button. Then you will be able to disable Mobile Substrate and uninstall incompatible tweaks," the tweet said.
Pangu Developer Saurik released a statement on Reddit regarding update issues.
"If you installed the new untether, and are experiencing issues, I believe that holding volume up while booting (to disable Substrate for that boot) corrects most of the issues that were not actually caused by something that you would have experienced with the old untether anyway (such as data protection issues)," the statement said.
Saurik also mentions that he's in the process of creating a Substrate fix that will be released soon.
