New England Revolution and Columbus Crew will play each other on Saturday at 4 p.m. EST.

The Revolution and Crew are two Eastern Conference teams who had a great season, and they will be playing each other this weekend. Both teams accumulated more than 50 points during the regular season, and this should be a great series. The winner of this series will face the winner of the New York Red Bulls against the D.C. United series.

New England Revolution

The New England Revolution finished the season with a 17-13-4 record, giving them 55 points. The Revolution finished just four points behind the D.C. United for the No.1 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Revolution have never been able to win the MLS Cup, but they did make it to three consecutive finals appearances from 2005-2007.

This squad didn't have a very good defense, allowing 46 goals. Amazingly, their goal differential was just plus five for the entire season, but they still finished in second place. Lee Nguyen led the club with 18 goals and was voted team Most Valuable Player for a second straight season. Teal Bunbury has been the best passer for the Revolution this season with a team-leading six assists.

Goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth has a 1.25 goals against average this season, but he has been inconsistent. Similar to the New England Patriots, Robert Kraft is also the owner of this team and they play at Gillette Stadium at Foxborough, Massachusetts. Head coach Jay Heaps, who used to play for the Revolution, is under a lot of pressure to win this year.

Columbus Crew

The Columbus Crew finished just three points behind the Revolution with a 14-10-10 record, awarding them 52 points. They placed third in the Eastern Conference. Although this team didn't win as many games as the Revolution, their goal differential was twice as good, at plus 10. The Crew won their only MLS Championship in 2008 when they defeated the New York Red Bulls 3-1 in the final game.

This team doesn't have the superstar power like Nguyen with the Revolution, but they are more balanced. Ethan Finlay and Federico Higuain both have a team-leading seven goals this season and goalkeeper Steve Clark has a 1.24 goals against average. The Crew were the best Eastern Conference road team this season.

This is Gregg Berhalter's first season with the team, and it's off to a great start. Unlike the Revolution, the Crew have their own stadium, where they will be playing on Saturday. The Crew have been in a drought lately, missing the postseason the last two seasons and not winning a playoff round since the 2010 season.

Predictions

There's a good chance this game will turn into a goalkeeper battle between Steve Clark and Bobby Shuttleworth. Both teams have a good offense, but the Crew have a superior defense and they will be playing at home. The Crew should be able to win Game 1 of this series.
