Nebraska Woman Arrested for Hitting Walmart Shopper Who Took Her Parking Spot
A Nebraska woman was charged with hitting another person with her car in a Walmart parking lot after the victim took the parking spot that she was waiting for.
Kimberly Pankratius, 36, faces two felony charges after she allegedly used her PT Cruiser to hit someone in a parking lot last Saturday evening.
According to a Lincoln Police Department report, Julie and Christopher Weakly pulled into the parking spot at the retailer store unaware that Pankratius was waiting for it. In response, Pankratius called the couple "douche bags" while they were still in their vechile.
Julie Weakly, 40, told police that she and her husband ignored Pankratius' comments "and continued walking towards the store." Christopher, 39, said that he "inadvertently" took the spot that Pankratius claims she found first, reports The Smoking Gun.
However, as they continued walking, they heard tires squealing and saw Pankratius speeding towards them. The car then hit Julie in the arm as she made a turn, causing the driver's side mirror to break and hang off the vehicle. Pankratius then sped away.
Christopher told police that the PT Cruiser was "only inches" away from hitting him as well.
Although Julie was in pain, she declined medical treatment. She also recorded Pankratius' license plate.
Pankratius later confessed to the crime due to her parking lot rage, telling police that she "felt really bad" about it.
"I did do it," she said in the report. "I'm so, so scared."
Pankratius admitted that she became angry when the couple pulled into her parking spot, but that she didn't intend to hit them. Instead, she said she was only "attempting to drive fast towards them to scare them." She added that she became "scared" once she realized that she actually "hit Julie with her driver's side mirror."
According to police, Pankratius was "very cooperative and apologetic" during her interrogation.
Pankratius has been charged with two felonies, the first is for assault and the other is for use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. She remained locked in the Lancaster County jail on $2,500 bail as of Tuesday.
