Prince Royce English Songs and Album Release Date: 'Soy El Mismo' Singer Talks Crossover Debut
Latino Pop star Prince Royce is working on his first English language album hoping to follow in the footsteps of Spanish-speaking stars Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias.
"After releasing three Spanish albums, I felt more prepared as a musician and a songwriter," Royce said in an interview with Idolator. "I can now connect to many different English-speaking countries that don't know who Prince Royce is."
Prince Royce has dominated Billboard's Latin Songs chart in the past few years with hits like "Las Cosas Pequeñas" and "Darte Un Beso." The heartthrob, raised by Dominican parents in Bronx, New York, was nominated for four Latin Grammys last month.
The singer has promised his fans that he is by no means leaving his Latin roots. Even in his English songs, there's a hint of his Latin and tropical sound.
"I was born and raised in New York, and I was always connected to my culture and the Spanish language and the music," the singer said.
Prince Royce performed at NBC's "Christmas in Rockefeller Center." The lineup of performances premiered Wednesday with the Latino star singing "Jingle Bell Rock," according to Latin Times.
The upcoming English album will feature collaborations with big name Latin stars and English speaking artists with input from high profile producers like Dr. Luke, Rocc Star and Oak.
The Latino star recently released his first English language single named "Stuck on a Feeling" featuring rapper Snoop Dogg. The single samples R&B group 112's hit song "Dance With Me."
"It's a fusion of urban, it's a fusion of R&B, it's pop, it has some Spanish," the said in November according to The Associated Press.
The "Corazon Sin Cara" hit singer is also working on his fourth Spanish album.
"The intention is to go 50-50," he said. "It's definitely double the work, but I think it's worth it for me."
Prince Royce has been working on his English language album for three years, recording over 110 songs so far. The album is expected to be released in 2015.
