Santana, Grammy-Winning Rock Icon, Set to Perform at Forest Hills Stadium in August
If you can say that you have seen the legendary Grammy-winning rock icon and Rock and Roll Hall of famer Carlos Santana in concert, then you're doing pretty stellar on the concert front.
On Friday, Aug. 14, the rock legend will wear his corázon on his sleeve and rock out to his heart's content. He and his band, Santana are making a pit stop during his The Corázon Tour at the Forest Hills Stadium, "the legendary sporting and entertainment venue hidden in the idyllic Queens, New York neighborhood of Forest Hills."
This marks the Forest Hills Stadium's third artist addition to their 2015 concert season. Already on tap are two sold-out performances by Ed Sheeran on Thursday, May 28 and Friday, May 29 and a special performance by The Who on May 30 on their THE WHO HITS 50! world tour. Way to go Forest Hills, Queens!
Santana is a 10-time Grammy Award- and three-time Latin Grammy Award-winning rock icon and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer.
The 67-year-old music legend's greatest hits include "Oye Como Va," "Black Magic Woman" and "Samba Pa Ti." He has teamed up with world-renowned artists, such as Tito Puente, Fleetwood Mac, Willie Nelson, Rob Thomas and Maná.
Last year, the Mexican-American "pioneer of Latin rock 'n' roll," along with renown Puerto Rican opera singer and Harlem native, Martina Arroyo, were among the five Kennedy Center Honorees, which is considered "the nation's highest honor for influencing American culture through the arts."
The newly renovated Forest Hills Stadium reopened in August 2013 with an inaugural performance by Mumford & Sons on their 'Full English' tour. "The concert, the first in the stadium in over 15 years, brought music fans from all over the world to Forest Hills, Queens to experience live music in a truly unique environment," according to an official press release.
The 2014 concert season featured performances by Zac Brown Band, Drake, Lil Wayne, Brand New, Modest Mouse, The Replacements and Phil Lesh.
Tickets for Santana will be available to the general public beginning Friday, Feb. 27 at foresthillsstadium.com.
