Louis reportedly lost her grandmother over the weekend, says The Sun. The 1D member lost his granny Margaret - mother of stepdad, Mark and is said to be 'grief-stricken.'

The report is confirmed by tweets of Louis' family members themselves.

"The birds are singing today. Rest in Peace my beautiful Mum. I'm going to really miss you," tweeted his stepdad (@tavtommo).

Louis' grandfather, Keith, also turned to Twitter (@iankiethtom) to express his feelings with his wife's passing.

"There was never one day in 47 years of being married to me that Mrs T didn't tell me she loved me."

Directioners were quick to offer consolation, if only online, with #RIPLouisGrandma on Twitter.

The Directioners efforts did not go unnoticed with Louis' grandfather acknowledging the outpour of support.

"So much love from you for Mrs T. You have been so kind to me today. I thank you all from the bottom of my breaking heart," he tweeted.

"I see what you are doing. Every tweet of hope and optimism I ever made is coming back to me. You are all so kind Too kind," he added.

The 1D member has not been seen in public since the holiday season although he has been back to his Twitter account as of late.
