The new season of "The Flash" has found a new cast member.

Keiynan Lonsdale has been cast as Wally West for the season of the CW show that has turned into a major success. Lonsdale is expected to be a series regular which means that his character will have an important part in the series.

The Hollywood Reporter was the first to report the news and had a statement by executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, who said Lonsdale was exactly what they needed for the series. He said, "Just like when we met Grant [Gustin] for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero. We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show."

It will be interesting to see where Wally West comes into the narrative and if the character will show up in the upcoming "Legends of Tomorrow."

It will also be interesting to see if Wally West ever becomes the Flash in the series and if he eventually replaces Barry Allen.

Lonsdale has quickly grown into a recognizable name as he has starred in the Veronica Roth adaptation of "Insurgent." The actor is also set to appear in the upcoming "The Finest Hours", with Chris Pine and Eric Bana.

"The Flash" is highly anticipated especially after the success of the first season. Throughout the past few weeks, producers have been teasing fans with rumors about characters. Recently CW announced that it had cast Falk Hentschel to play Hawkman and Casper Crump as the supervillain Vandal Savage.

The upcoming series is currently in production and is expected to star Grant Gustin, Tom Cavanagh, Candice Patton and Carlos Valdes. The series tells the story of Barry Allen who discovers his super speed powers and uses them to save Central City.

The second season of "The Flash" starts on Oct. 6 on the CW.
