Fantasy Football 2015 Sleepers, Rankings, & Draft: Top 5 Running Backs for 2015 NFL Season
Fantasy Football drafts are getting underway in numerous leagues. It's always vital that you grab a superstar quarterback in the top 10, but it's still critical to select a running back early. Running backs can get you big points every week to help secure a league victory.
Here are the top five Fantasy Football running backs for 2015.
1. Marshawn Lynch
This is going to surprise a lot of people. Marshawn Lynch doesn't break records, and he's never once led the NFL in rushing yards. Still, you have to make him your first choice at running back. Why? The answer is simple: consistency. Lynch has the most combined rushing yards (5,357) and touchdowns (48) over the last four seasons. He's by far the biggest "play it safe" selection of any running back, especially considering the fact that he hasn't missed a single game since 2011. Touchdowns score big points in Fantasy Football, and Lynch led the NFL in scores last year with 13 on the ground. Lynch is also the only running back in the league with double digit touchdown seasons the last four straight years.
2. Adrian Peterson
It may be somewhat of a risk considering the fact that Adrian Peterson pretty much missed all of last season, but he's worth it. Peterson is back with a vengeance, and he will be running behind a great offensive line in Minnesota. The Vikings also have a young quarterback in Teddy Bridgewater who could open things up a little bit on offense. Even last season the Vikings ranked 14th in rushing yards without Peterson, which is still impressive considering the circumstances.
3. Eddie Lacy
Another NFC North running back. The Green Bay Packers have a special player in Eddie Lacy with Super Bowl expectations. In his first two years in the league, Lacy has rushed for 2,317 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also had four receiving touchdowns last season, and he has only missed one game. The Packers have a terrific offensive line, and opposing defenses will be focusing so much on stopping Aaron Rodgers. Lacy is a bruising running back who gets a lot of yards after contact. He could very well lead the NFL in rushing yards this upcoming season.
4. DeMarco Murray
DeMarco Murray was the top running back last season having rushed for 1,845 yards with the Dallas Cowboys. He's set for another great year, this time with the Philadelphia Eagles. Murray will again be running behind a great offensive line, and he has increased his touchdown production all four seasons of his career. The issue here is Murray does have fumbling problems, and he has had trouble staying healthy. Murray fumbled more last season than Lacy has the last two years combined. Still, Murray should have another great season.
5. Le'Veon Bell
He's the only AFC running back to make our list. It was close, but he barely made it over LeSean McCoy and Jamaal Charles. Le'Veon Bell will miss the first game of the season against the New England Patriots because of suspension, but he's still a must have. Bell is widely regarded as the best dual threat back in the league because of his all around game. Last season Bell had 1,361 rushing yards, but he also caught the ball an incredible 83 times for another 854 yards. In case you were wondering, Bell didn't fumble the ball even one time last season.
