Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago will play each other in an international friendly on Friday night. This may not be Argentina vs. Brazil, but Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago have built up a bit of a rivalry over the years.

Let's break down the game and predict a winner.

Mexico (26)

It was a busy summer for Mexico. After competing in the Copa America in South America, they looked to win their third Gold Cup in the last four tries. Mexico would go on to defeat Jamaica in the finals by a score of 3-1 solidifying themselves as the most successful North American team ever.

Javier Hernandez will not be playing once again for Mexico as ESPNFC reported. It's been somewhat of a disappointing year for him at the club level.

Despite not having "Chicharito" for the entire Gold Cup, Mexico was still able to come out as champions of CONCACAF. The biggest reason Mexico was able to sustain such a streak without their best forward was because of Andrés Guardado. Guardado recorded six goals for Mexico in the Gold Cup, many of which came by penalty kick. Guardado is the team captain of Mexico.

The biggest thing to watch on Mexico's side will be their strategy. Miguel Herrera was fired last month for getting into an altercation with a reporter at a Philadelphia airport, and Ricardo Ferretti is currently the interim head coach. More than likely Alfredo Talavera will be starting in net for Guillermo Ochoa in this game.

Rafael Márquez and Francisco Javier Rodríguez lead a power defensive unit while Carlos Vela will have to command the offense with Guardado. Giovani dos Santos and Eduardo Herrera will not be playing in this game either.

Mexico will play Lionel Messi and Argentina on Tuesday, Sep. 8.

Trinidad and Tobago (54)

Trinidad and Tobago tied Mexico at the Gold Cup this past summer in a thrilling shootout, 4-4. Unfortunately for them, they lost against Panama in the knockout stage.

As it stands now Jan-Michael Williams is scheduled to start in net over Marvin Phillip. Head coach Stephen Hart has named Kenwyne Jones the team Captain. Jones is by far Trinidad and Tobago's best scorer and most skilled offensive player.

Trinidad and Tobago is ranked No. 54 in the FIFA rankings and No.5 in CONCACAF.

Outside of Mekeil Williams and Daneil Cyrus, Trinidad and Tobago don't have a very reliable defense. Khaleem Hyland, Joevin Jones and Ataullah Guerra will be the best middle fielders on the Friday for Trinidad and Tobago. Trinidad and Tobago's next international friendly will be in October against Panama.

Prediction

The game won't be played in Mexico, but you can bet Mexico will have the overwhelming home field advantage, as they usually do in the United States. Despite not having many of their stars on the field, Mexico still has more firepower. This is another great chance for Guardado to showcase his skills.
