Fans of “Outlander” who cannot bear to wait until 2016 to see more of their favorite time traveling characters on screen, can take heart in the knowledge that a new first season DVD/Blu-ray officially arrives in stores next week.

With this release comes lots of extras and even a gag reel.

Entertainment Weekly has posted an exclusive never-before-seen clip from the series wherein Claire (Caitriona Balfe) is apprehensive about Jamie (Sam Heughan) running a potentially dangerous errand for the Duke of Sandringham.

The two banter back and forth about family and titles, and when Claire says that perhaps the Duke should just send out one of his servants instead of a stable boy, Jamie gets indignant, reminding Claire that he is not stable boy. “I am a Laird of Lallybroch,” he says, and Claire then says she is sorry.

Whatever slight tension exists on screen between these two, it is obvious that Heughan and Balfe have a great chemistry behind the camera, even while filming a graphic scene.

As Variety reports, Heughan said he and Balfe really had a great time during the first season's notorious spanking scene. “Caitriona and I really relished that scene,” he said, “It was kind of the first time I really got to do some gritty acting, and it was great. We sort of tore it out of each other.”

The actor knew the spanking scene would be seen as shocking to a lot of viewers, but could easily rationalize his character’s actions given the time and context in the series. “There’s a moral code, and it’s the way he’s been brought up, and he’s now got responsibility, and he’s trying to do everything that’s right,” he said, “He’s trying to play that role and be responsible, and she keeps bloody messing with it.”

"Outlander" Season 1, Volume 2, will be released via Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday.
