2014 HTC One 2 and M8 Specs and Release Date: HTC One Gets Price Drop Ahead of Upcoming Launch
HTC is now only less than 10 days away from unveiling its new phone during its New York and London conferences March 25.
While the Taiwan based smartphone manufacturer gears up to release the follow-up to the HTC One to more than 100 countries two weeks after the unveiling, the company's American division announced this week that it has dropped the price of the One to $499, a $100 drop, according to International Business Times.
No doubt the company is trying to free up some shelf space by getting rid of its flagship phone, but most buyers are wary to purchase the phone now considering a new one will be available by next month.
A lot of rumors have been flying around the web about the unofficially titled HTC One 2, codenamed M8 during production. Some rumors conflict other reports. Although many "leakers" have posted a lot of spoilery details on Internet, prior the unveiling, HTC has kept its lips sealed other than to promote the upcoming conference.
International Business Times reported some of the various conflicting information such as the One 2 is expected to have a 5.1 inch screen without a physical button, however, another report claims it will be a 5.0-inch full HD screen with 440 ppi and a scratch-reistant sheet.
Also, reports claim the phone's battery will either come with a 2900mAh, a 3000mAh or a 2600mAh. While some reports believe the device to include a 4MP front camera or a 5MP front camera.
Additionally, another rumor is that the One 2 is to be powered by a quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU or rather the new Snapdragon 801 with Android v4.4 KitKat OS.
A few rumors have remained consistent, however, such as the smartphone's microSD card slot, pin-hole case to show weather, time and other information, as well as the use of Google Play Edition, which is also featured in its predecessor.
