Buffalo Bills vs New York Jets: NFL Thursday Night Football Schedule, Predictions, Stream & Preview
NFL Week 10 kicks off with a good old fashion AFC East rivalry game on Thursday Night Football. The Buffalo Bills and New York Jets will play each other in a huge game that has all the drama one could ask for.
The Bills haven't made the playoffs since 1999, and a recent slump is helping keep that drought alive. The Bills have lost three of their last five games, and a wild card spot is slowly slipping away. It's very unlikely the Bills will win the AFC East, but if they get on the right track, they can still grab a No. 5 or No. 6 seed.
Defensively, the Bills haven't lived up to expectations. They rank 16th overall in total defense and 24th in pass defense. This will be the Bills' first game in a current three game road trip. After this the Bills will travel to face the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs. Rex Ryan had some memorable years with the Jets, leading them to two AFC Championship games, but now he will be on the opposite side.
Tyrod Taylor has been playing surprisingly well this year. Taylor has 10 touchdowns and just four interceptions this year, and he is finally healthy. Wide receiver Sammy Watkins has been great when on the field, and you know he's going to be lined up with Darrelle Revis.
The Jets picked up a nice win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9 to end a two game losing streak. The Jets are now 5-3 and 1-1 in the division. Despite losing Ryan, who is a defensive mastermind, the Jets have a better defensive unit than the Bills do. The Jets defense ranks fourth overall in yards against and No. 1 against the run. If they give the Bills problems at the line of scrimmage, it will force Taylor to throw far more often than he wants to. That could result in turnovers.
Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker have been a great wide receiver combination this season. Marshall provides the deep threat while Decker is providing first downs in the slot area. Marshall and Decker have a combined 11 touchdown catches this season. Surprisingly, Ryan Fitzpatrick has exceeded expectations this season at quarterback. Fitzpatrick has only had one really bad game this year, which came against the Philadelphia Eagles when he threw three interceptions. If Fitzpatrick can continue to manage games, unlike Geno Smith, the Jets should be fine.
The Bills and Jets face each other again in Week 17 in Buffalo.
Schedule
The Bills and Jets face off on Thursday night at 8:25 p.m. EST on the NFL Network. The game will be played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. You can watch a live game stream here.
Prediction
The Jets are favored, and rightfully so. However, the Bills need to win this game badly. A loss here would pretty much end their season. It's time for the offense and defense to finally start playing great together at the right time. This is the Bills chance to show everyone what they're capable of on prime time television.
Bills win 23-20
