iPhone 5c vs. Samsung Galaxy S4 Specs and Review: iOS 7 vs. Android Jelly Bean, Price, and Screen Size Compared
The release of the revamped version of the iPhone 5, the iPhone 5C, has turned the competition between the Galaxy S4 from Samsung into one of the most cutthroat in the mobile market today. Let us take a closer look at these gadgets and see in what ways they are alike or different.
- The iPhone 5C has a smaller screen, which is only 4 inches compared to 5 inches for the Galaxy S4. In terms of retina display, the iPhone 5C has a 1136 x 640 p compared to the 1080 full High Definition of Galaxy S4 with 1920 x 1080 pixilation.
The iPhone 5C is slightly heavier at 132g compared to 130g for the S4. The iPhone 5C comes in 16 GB and 32 GB only. However, the S4 comes in 16, 32 and 64 GB.
Both smartphones have 3G, 4G and Bluetooth connectivity. The iPhone 5C operates on iOS 7 while S4 operates on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
The S4 has a front camera of 2 MP and a rear camera of 13 MP. The iPhone only has 1.2 MP for the front and 8 MP for the rear.
The iPhone 5C camera has a button dedicated for taking photos, which makes it slightly easier. The shutter lag is just 0.24 seconds compared to the 0.35 seconds of the Galaxy S4. Startup delay is also less on the iPhone 5S at 0.84 seconds compared to 0.99 seconds on the Galaxy S4. Low light images are also much better on iPhone 5C. For video chats during nighttime or darker places, the camera on the iPhone performs much better.
When looking at the price of these 2 gadgets, the iPhone 5C is more expensive. However, it is just a mid-range smartphone compared to the full range functionality offered by the Galaxy S4. Therefore, a lot of people think that the comparison is not really fair. Overall, the S4 is deemed as a slightly better choice.
