Kanye West’s Yeezy Boost Wins Shoe of the Year
Kanye West has received the award for Shoe of the Year for his Adidas Yeezy Boost collection.
The 38-year-old rapper accepted the honor at the 29th Footwear News Achievement Awards, which took place Wednesday, Dec. 2 in New York, according to Hip-Hop Wired.
West came to the event donning the Yeezy Boost 950 model.
"If you don't like 10-minute, profanity-ridden speeches that end with a presidential bid, you can go to the bathroom," he joked in reference to his MTV VMA speech.
During his acceptance speech, which actually ended up taking 20 minutes, he talked about creating his footwear product and his daughter North West.
"I care about product. I'm dead serious for what I create as an artist in this lifetime," Kanye said. "It's a spark that I want to bring joy. And just like when my daughter is singing and jumping around - she might not be finishing her sentences perfectly, but she's bringing so much joy. And I know that she's going to grow up and be amazing. So you can see a spark in the pieces I do so that one day they can grow up and be amazing."
Some of the other celebrities who attended the event included Fergie and Deion Sanders, showcasing their own footwear collections.
West and his wife Kim Kardashian are expecting their second child on Christmas Day. The reality star's due date may change, but sources say she may be having a C-section for safety reason, according to TMZ.
"I'm waiting on my son to arrive any day now," West added. "I look at my daughter and I look at my wife and she's rich and I don't plan on being broke."
West released his last album, "Yeezus," back in 2013. The album produced the singles "Black Skinhead" and "Bound 2." His upcoming album, "Swish," has no confirmed due date.
