Nicki Minaj’s Brother Charged With Raping 12-Year-Old Child
Nicki Minaj's brother, Jelani Maraj, has been charged with raping a 12-year-old child.
The 32-year-old female rapper's brother was arrested on Tuesday, Dec. 1, according to the Daily Mail. Maraj was involved in two reported instances of sexual contact with a child that occurred earlier this year in Nassau County, authorities state.
Maraj, 37, faces two charges, which include first-degree rape of a child under the age of 13 and a course of sexual conduct against a child. He was accused of raping this victim twice between the months of April and November, according to court documents. The child was also "someone he had access to," a source close to the case told the Daily News.
When a person engages in two or more incidences of sexual contact with a child younger than 13 over a three-month period it is considered a felony, according to New York state's penal codes. The charges, if he is found guilty, carry a sentence of nine to 25 years in prison. Maraj is due back in court next week.
Minaj attended her brother's wedding, in which he married his longtime girlfriend Jacqueline Robinson, in August. The rapper, who wore a red gown to the event, paid for the $30,000 ceremony, which was held at the Coral house in Baldwin, New York. She posted several photos of the night on her Instagram account.

"I love my brother so much man. Can't believe I cried during his wedding and his first dance like a punk. May God bless him and his union," Minaj captioned one of the photos. "Tonight has been one of my favorite nights of all time. I do anything to see my brothers smile."
Minaj released her last album, "The Pinkprint," in December 2014. The album produced the singles "Pills N Potions," "Anaconda," "Only," "Bed of Lies," "Truffle Butter," "The Night Is Still Young" and "Tini Dem Girls."
