Actor and rapper Bow Wow has received a lot of ridicule for his explanation of dabbing, a popular dance move, connecting it to what people do when smoking marijuana.

According to Hot New Hip Hop, a video of Bow Wow explaining the origins of dabbing has made the rounds online and has received plenty of ridicule.

In the video, Bow Wow tries telling fans that people are dabbing without any idea of the origin of the move. He goes on to say that it has to do with smoking weed.

"The world dabbing and they don't even understand or know what dab is. First of all, dab is a strong way to smoke marijuana, it's the purest form of marijuana. It's extremely strong, so the dance comes from when you smoking and you coughing," he explains, before going on to demonstrate.

The video has since been deleted, but not before it was shared by other social media accounts.

Dabbing, or The Dab, is a dance move that has been popularized in hip-hop culture and originated in Atlanta.

Bow Wow's explanation led social media users to ridicule his theory and also prompted a response from hip-hop group Migos and rapper Rich The Kid, who have helped popularized the dance.

"Bow Wow must of got a little too high this morning," Migos tweeted. "Homie is geekin, for real."

Rich The Kid also tweeted his thoughts on the matter, along with the original video. Later, the rapper told fans he just wants credit for popularizing the dance. "Somebody please tell Bow Wow stfu," he wrote. '"Cause that is not where the dab came from. F----- clown. He sounds dumb as f--- right now."

Bow Wow responded to the backlash with tweets that have now been deleted, calling Migos the "fake version of the Ying Yang twins," reported Vibe.
