The last episode of Shameless season 4 was totally unexpected when Justin Chatwin made a surprise return in his character as Jimmy Steve when in fact he has been presumed to be dead. Therefore, for the next season, there are lots of questions in regards to this unexpected plot twist. Will Chatwin's character be totally back for the next season? Wasn't Frank supposed to die this year?

John Wells, the show's executive producer, was asked about his thoughts on Chatwin's death and revival. He said that the viewers kept on asking what happened to the character last season and he realized that there were really no clear details, so they thought of taking advantage of that fact by creating a plot twist.

He was also asked why the ending was a completely shocking one. He said that it was always good to remind people why they have to come back and watch the show. He said he believes that it is quite difficult to keep people interested especially if they are watching via paid cable. There is a 9-month gap and so their interest must not only be kept but they have to still be intrigued about what is going to happen later in the next season.

Although it is great news that the show will be back for its fifth season, the sad part is that viewers will have to wait until 2015 before it will be released. The show has in fact become more popular with its 11th episode during season 4 raking in over 2.8 million viewers, the largest in its entire history. The production team will start filming the next season later this year. The next season will have 12 episodes. For the next season, there will be more recurring roles and new cast members will be added to make the show more interesting.
