Dancing with the Stars isn't all smiles and costumes. As the competition continues, the stars and dancers are starting to feel the pressure.

On Monday night, Cody Simpson felt the most pressure when he and his partner Witney Carson were eliminated.

"I'm sad ... mixed feelings" SImpson told E! News backstage after the show. "It's kind of like, one amazing experience is over. Witney and I are kind of sad about it."

Simpson won't be down forever, however. The 17-year-old singer already plans on getting back on his feet. In fact, his newest video, Surfboard, was released the same night he was eliminated.

"...at the same time, I can just get back to what I do ... start working on the new album and move on to the next phase of my career," Simpson said, adding that he does not know why he was nixed. "Honestly we had no clue. Witney and I were like, 'We'll be fine, we're going to be safe. It's all good.' It just goes to show you, you should never get too comfortable."

Meanwhile, team NeNe Leakes and Tony Dovolani survived elimination but not without some team drama. Monday's episode showed the partners butting heads on Apr. 8, which Dovolani said was a result of exhaustion and "good storytelling," according to Us Weekly.

"It was very difficult for me because they made me seem like the villain," Dovolani told the magazine.

The dancer said that his week off from Leakes due to the Switch Up was detrimental.

"We had just both flown a red-eye to New York, we were both tired, the Switch Up didn't do us any good," he explained. "It put a bump in the road, and we had a little tiff! What couple doesn't? They chose to show ours and make a story out of it ... and that's fine."

Dovolani and Leakes exchanged apologies on Wednesday.

"That was a week ago, so in some ways we'd already forgotten about it," he told Us Weekly.

According to Dovolani, Leakes was also surprised to watch how DWTS portrayed the argument.

"She was overwhelmed," he explained. "She didn't like that they were making me the villain. She saw the look on my face, and she said, 'Why are they doing this to you? You're the nice guy!'"

Despite the clip, Dovolani insists that he is very close with Derek Hough.

"They made me seem like I hate Derek," he said. "I don't hate Derek ... I babysat that kid! I've known this kid for over 25 years. ... He's a great person I grew up with."

"No matter what happened in that package, no matter how they constructed it, it's gone," Hough added.

Dovolani believes that the way producers edited the footage created an inaccurate picture.

"They took my comments out of context and attached them to the story. And I didn't like that part... and I just hope it doesn't get us voted off."
