Are the celebrity banter, jokes and sass on Dancing with the Stars fake? One former contestant says yes.

Radio and television show host Wendy Williams was a season 12 contestant on Dancing With the Stars. Recently, she opened up about the reality dancing competition show that she says is scripted.

"When they put you in the room and you have to talk to the camera about your experience -- you know, the one-on-one with the camera -- I was letting people know that they script what you say," Williams said on TODAY on April 17.

Williams was partners with Tony Dovolani and was eliminated in the second week. The 49-year-old claimed that "a little bit more sassafras" would have kept her in the competition longer "because that's how they were writing my script, to be Angry Black Woman."

"They also script what they want you to say," Williams continued on her The Wendy Williams Show. "I know this as a participant, OK. I'm reading, I'm like, 'Wait, this is not how I'm feeling today, and I wouldn't say that. I'm not going to say that.' I would tell the camera."

Williams suspects last week's drama between her former partner and his new partner, NeNe Leakes, was manipulated as well.

"... all I'm going to say, NeNe, don't let them pull you out of your character," Williams said. "... Don't let them do that to you."

Williams also claims that Leakes wore the same animal print frock that she wore during her season because of producers deciding to recycle.

ABC has yet to comment on Williams' remarks.

Regardless, Leakes says that everything with her and Dovolani is OK.

"A lot of my fans were worried that Tony and I were on the rocks last week, but and we were all good there," she wrote in her E! News blog. "We got right back together the next day and apologized and moved on, and I think we're in a much better place this week. It was hard for us then, but we're in a better place now."
