First lady and fashion icon Michelle Obama has always made influential style choices, and her decision to wear an outfit by Latino designer Narciso Rodriguez for the State of the Union Address on Jan. 12 was no different. The dress is now sold out online.

According to Vogue, the marigold wool crepe dress, designed by Rodriguez, a Cuban-American fashion designer, sold out online 20 minutes after the first lady was spotted wearing it.

The sleeveless dress, which was on sale for $628 at Neiman Marcus, showed off the 51-year-old's strong arms, flattered her complexion, and featured Obama's figure, but the piece still remained modest.

Fans got excited about the look on Twitter. Several tweeted how much they loved the dress, and some even started circulating a collage of Obama's various State of the Union dresses over the last eight years.

Others defended Obama's choice to wear a dress that is priced at a little more than $2,000, pointing out that she could afford a dress of that price even before her husband, Barack Obama, became president.

Pictures of the first lady at the State of the Union Address were also shared on the official Narciso Rodriguez Instagram account.

While the dress itself got the Internet worked up, the first lady's choice of designer was another hot topic. By choosing to wear a dress by a Latino designer, when there is a lot of anti-immigrant political sentiment, the first lady supported her husband's liberal platform.

According to Quartz, it should also be noted that Rodriguez identifies as a gay man. Given the Supreme Court's ruling in favor of gay marriage while her husband was in office, Michelle Obama's fashion choice may run even deeper politically.

This isn't the first time that the first lady has rocked a dress designed by Rodriguez. Obama was first spotted wearing the designer on election night in 2008, when her husband took office.
