'La Gata' Telenovela To Be Released Next Month; Maite Perroni, Daniel Arenas Share First Kiss On Opening Credit
The Maite Perroni-led telenovela "La Gata" will be released early next month and more details are being released.
The opening credits were recently shot, and Perroni, who plays Esmeralda, and her co-star Daniel Arenas shared their first kiss. It also offers other clues about the telenovela.
In an interview with "Hoy," Maite Perroni said that she had shot promotional videos and the opening scene and how it signaled how much closer they were until it premiered.
She also described a little bit of what the opening credits will show.
"We're going to see two worlds that are completely opposite of each other. Two different realities," Perroni said. "You'll see love. You'll see the relationship between the characters, and we'll tell you a little bit of what the story will be about."
The promotional videos, which have been shared on the show's Facebook page, give a more complete picture of Perroni's character. For example, in one scene she is in Xochiaca, which is the largest dump in Mexico City. She is collecting garbage when she finds a doll that she gives someone else, who then calls it her baby. It's obvious that Esmeralda lives in poverty and that she is dealing with someone who depends on her.
Another video shows a man approaching Esmeralda and telling her she'll never be ridiculed again. He extends his hand, which she takes.
And the most drama-filled look is one where two characters are plotting after Esmeralda is proposed to by Daniel Arena's character, Pablo Martínez Negrete.
Each promotional video features a cat because even though her name is Esmeralda she goes by La Gata.
Maite Perroni has said this is one of the best roles she has played.
"I'm very happy," she said to El Mañana. "I think 'La Gata' is a project that allows me to develop in the areas I most like, music and acting. With this novela, I'm super happy that it's a story that moves me very much and each episode that I see makes me excited and it has a good rhythm. We are telling a very real story."
