Batman vs. Superman Movie Cast News and Rumors: Ray Fisher Joins Cast of 'Man of Steel' Sequel
After months of speculation, sources have confirmed with Variety that Victor Stone, aka Cyborg, will be featured in the upcoming "Man of Steel" sequel and will be played by theater actor Ray Fisher.
Although not confirmed by the Warner Bros. Studio, the sources told the entertainment publication that the character's part in the film will not be a major or influential role, his presence will lead to a more significant aspect with future projects, such as a Justice League film.
In the DC Comics ethos, Cyborg is an instrumental member in the Justice League and in current adaptations he is one of its founding members.
Cyborg was introduced to the DC Comics Universe in 1980 for "DC Comics Presents" #26, according to Superhero Hype.
He gets his bionic abilities from S.T.A.R. Labs after being caught in an explosion at one of its facilities.
Star of the newly launched franchise, Henry Cavill, who plays Clark Kent/Superman, can be seen on the bonus features of the "Man of Steel" homevideo release speculating Cyborg's involvement in future films.
"I think he would create an incredible bridge between superheroes and humanity," Cavill said.
In the comic books, S.T.A.R. Labs is also the known as the workplace of Dr. Emil Hamilton, who is played by Richard Schiff in Man of Steel, Variety reported.
Fisher was previously rumored to be in the running for a role in J.J. Abram's Star Wars: Episode VII, according to Superhero Hype.
The tentatively titled "Batman Vs. Superman" film is due out May 6, 2016 and will feature returning stars Cavill, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, and Amy Adams. Newcomers Fisher, Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck, Jesse Eisenberg, and Jeremy Irons will join them.
The film will also see Zack Snyder return to helm the epic feature, which was written by David S. Goyer and based on a story the two collaborated on together.
