‘Street Fighter 5’ New Trailer Reveals Game Modes, Capcom Explains Character Changes and More
The new "Street Fighter 5" is landing soon and Capcom is enticing the fans by dropping more details about the upcoming installment. From a brand new trailer to character changes, the team is revealing more than it ever has of the best-selling game ahead of its release date.
According to a report from Game Spot, the team has given an explanation to the changes in character Ken's appearance and game play. The new look of the long-time fan favorite debuted last year during the San Diego Comic-Con, but now Capcom is willing to spill the details on why they decided to take a new direction with the character.
"Ken looks fine," Capcom brand manager Mike Lunn told IGN during an interview at PAX South. "People say he looks a little bit different. He looks a little bit different, his hair is a little bit different; he now has that kind of sporty shirt on as well."
He added, "Not only that, but we made him play a lot different as well. So I think the team wanted to separate the two a little more, so it wasn't a 'white ninja dude, red ninja dude."
Meanwhile, a report from Ubergizmo revealed the different Modes included in the recently released trailer of "Street Fighter 5". There are five Modes in the trailer and game: Tutorial, Story, Survival, Training and Network.
In Tutorial, players will be able to learn their new moves as well as get to know a little bit of Ken and Ryu's early stories as young fighters. Training Mode is similar, as it lets the gamers practice fighting with different characters. Network Mode allows players to engage with friends or compete in tournaments, while the Survival Mode unleashes an endless stream of opponents on the players.
Most notably, the Story Mode lets players discover the stories of all the characters included in the lineup. This consists of old and new fighters in the franchise and is one of the most anticipated elements of the upcoming game.
In an interview with Endgadget, producer Yoshinori Ono revealed that "Street Fighter 5" will feature the first full Story Mode of the series, saying that the single-player campaign will be launched in June as a free DLC.
"We've never done anything like this before in terms of the type of presentation, ambience, the type of look we're doing in story mode," Ono said. "We want people to see that we've really worked very hard to provide story content that fans have been asking for and that everyone will enjoy."
"Street Fighter 5" for PlayStation 4 and PC is slated to be released on Feb. 16.
