Anahí Releases Song in Honor of Pope Francis' Visit to Mexico
Latina pop singer Anahí has released a new song in honor of Pope Francis' upcoming visit to Mexico.
On Feb. 3, the singer released the song, called "Amigo Francisco" featuring Mexican banda singer Julion Alvarez, and posted a photo of the cover art on her Instagram account.
"Surprise!! With all my love I share the official theme for the visit of Pope Francisco to Chiapas! I hope you like it a lot! Thank you @julionalvarez for your voice and your affection in this song that I am sure will touch many hearts," she captioned the photo.
The singer later thanked fans for their support after sharing the song on Instagram and revealed why she was so proud of it and what it meant to her.
"When I was 7-years-old I had the honor of singing a song for Pope John Paul on his visit to Mexico and today to be able to perform this song is an honor," she wrote.
Anahí is not only a popular Mexican music artist and actress but she is also happens to be the wife of the Governor of Chiapas, Manuel Velasco Coello.
The "Rumba" singer began dating the politician in 2012, and the two were married in in April 2015.
Back in December 2015, the singer shared photos on social media from her first time meeting the pope in Italy and called the meeting "the most beautiful experience!"
According to the schedule released by the Vatican, the pontiff will be in Mexico from Feb. 12 to 18.
He will be visiting Chiapas on Monday Feb. 15, where he will take part in a mass with the indigenous communities of the area and will deliver a homily.
