Amanda Bynes DUI and Rehab Update: Actress Seen Driving BMW After Getting Driver's License Back [Photos]
Amanda Bynes wasted little time getting back behind the wheel now that she's gotten her driver's license back.
Photos emerged of the former Nickelodeon star driving with her parents Rick and Lynn in California's Westlake Village on Saturday, April 26, reports the Daily Mail. She was seen wearing thick sunglasses while driving a black BMW now that her suspension for two hit-and-run charges and a DUI arrest in 2012 has been lifted. She was reportedly leaving an art class as her father sat in the passenger seat and her mother sat in the back.
According to Us Weekly, the embattled starlet was placed on three years of probation in February 2013 when the court dropped her DUI charge. The 28-year-old actress was also ordered to complete an alcohol education course and pay a fine.
Back in April 2012, Bynes received a DUI after getting into a car crash where she allegedly sideswiped a police vechile in West Hollywood.
Earlier in April, the star looked happy and healthy as she celebrated her 28th birthday in Mexico on April 3. She shared photos of herself clad in a neon bikini on Twitter while on vacation with her parents during Spring Break. "Spring break," she wrote as the caption on the first picture. On the other photo, she wrote "Thank you everyone for all the birthday wishes."
The former child star also recently completed a successful semester at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.
This is a complete 180 from the months of bizarre and erratic behavior that Bynes displayed in 2013 until she was finally committed to a psychiatric hospital last summer. On July 22, 2013, Bynes was placed in an involuntary hold after she set fire to a stranger's driveway, around the corner from her parents' home in California. She was rumored to have been diagnosed with schizophrenia and her parents were granted full conservatorship over her fortune.
Bynes received treatment for mental illness at UCLA's medical center before she was transferred to a mental rehabilitation facility in Malibu called The Canyon.
In December, Bynes was released into the care of her parents in Thousand Oaks, California and appears to also be focused on her physical health and going to the gym.
