Al Madrigal, an actor and comedian who is perhaps best known as the Latino correspondent for "The Daily Show," is hitting the road to chronicle America's thriving Latino community.

Madrigal is traversing the U.S. to host a one-hour primetime special on Fusion about the power and influence of the Latino community in America. The special is set to air this fall before November's midterm elections, Fusion reports.

Madrigal will begin his trip next month with Fusion correspondent Romina Puga to "capture a unique portrait of the many facets of Hispanic culture and life in the U.S.," according to Fusion. They will also be joined by special guests along the way.

"Al has the ability to tackle important topics and breakdown stereotypes in a way that is both enlightening and entertaining," Fusion CEO Isaac Lee said. "Comedy is the currency for Fusion's audience, and there is no better person than Al Madrigal to help us shine a bright light on the growing influence and impact of the young Hispanic community."

The special will be produced by Fusion and overseen by Fusion Chief Programming Officer Billy Kimball and former "Daily Show" executive producer David Javerbaum.

"I'm delighted to carry on in the tradition of the great reporters like Edward R. Murrow, Ernie Pyle and Geraldo Rivera to probe vitally important issues of the day, starting with whether I'm Hispanic or Latino," Madrigal said in the press release.

Madrigal is no stranger to tackling issues in the Latino community; he's reported on issues such as Latino stereotypes and alleged biases in Spanish-language media for the parodic "Daily Show" news program.

Madrigal has more than 15 years experience as a stand-up comedian and also acts alongside Minnie Driver and David Walton in the new NBC series "About a Boy."

His stand-up special, "Why Is the Rabbit Crying," premiered on Comedy Central in 2013, and he launched the "All Things Comedy" (ATC) podcast and video network with comedian Bill Burr in October 2012.
