LeBron James Blasts Cleveland Cavaliers, Says Team Is Not Ready for Playoffs
LeBron James blasted the Cleveland Cavaliers after losing to the short-handed Memphis Grizzlies 106-103 on Monday. It came just a week after James spent some time working out in Miami with Dwyane Wade and posting some cryptic tweets.
Cavs fans might be getting more worried every time "The King" is frustrated with his team. He's only trying to motivate his teammates and help Cleveland win their first championship. However, with performances like that against the Grizzlies, it's pretty hard to argue with LeBron's comments.
"I can sit up here and say that we're a team that's ready to start the playoffs tomorrow, but we're not. We're still learning. We still have things that happen on the court that just, that shouldn't happen," James said.
He also said that the Cavaliers could have lost against his son's little league team with the way they played against the Memphis. Cleveland had a season-high of 25 turnovers that were turned into 30 points.
Ferocious Grizzlies
Memphis headed into the game at the Quickens Loan Arena on Monday with eight active players and only one starter available. Marc Gasol was out for the season with a broken foot. Mike Conley has a sore a left foot and Zach Randolph was rested as it was the second game of a back-to-back.
The Cleveland was able to play horribly, leading to the Grizzlies' win. The visitors were led by defensive guard Tony Allen, who torched the Cavs with 26 points. Kevin Love registered a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
"That was a real bad loss for us. Turnovers were terrible. That was what I mean, respecting the game," Love said after the game. James and Kyrie Irving combined for 55 points, but it was not enough as Memphis came away with a 3-point win.
The James-Irving Problem
In a report by Chris Mannix of The Vertical, several coaches and scouts said that they observed the duo of James and Irving having an on-court chemistry problem. One of the scouts even went as far as saying that the teammates' chemistry is "basically nonexistent."
However, a Cavs source refuted the report as the relationship between the two stars is said to be "solid." James is very adamant on imparting some of his high basketball IQ to Irving, and that's why he works hard in teaching the 23-year-old point guard.
The chemistry problem report comes a couple of days after "King James" and "Uncle Drew" posted cryptic tweets that may be shots to each other.
