Spain vs. South Korea International Friendly 2016 Predictions, Preview, Schedule, Streaming Info
Spain continues its Euro Cup preparations as it takes on South Korea in an international friendly.
Nolito makes a case
The defending European champs have not been at their best in recent years, but managed a golden performance on Sunday with a squad of players that will likely not show up in France next week.
Despite that, one player did make an ample case to be included in the competition squad:Nolito.
The 29-year-old scored two goals for Spain in the 3-1 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, his first two tallies in his national colors.
The Celta Vigo forward had a solid year for his club and was picked on the preliminary squad as one of the players that could potentially be a starting forward. Spain has lacked a true scorer since the days of David Villa and Fernando Torres (both of which could have made the squad) and Nolito is among the finalists for consideration in the upcoming tournament. Nolito is a tricky forward, possessing strong dribbling skills and a powerful shot. That said, it is unknown if he will be well-suited to the tiki taka passing game of Spain.
The 3-1 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina was the kind of performance this nation has been missing. It showed a team on the offensive and taking chances with confidence. The defense, while not great, had a decent game, shutting down a potent Bosnian side throughout.
Spain has its longest unbeaten streak in three years
The win also extended Spain's unbeaten run to 10, its longest since 2013, when the name saw a 26-game unbeaten run halted during the Confederations Cup final against Brazil. Since then, Spain has been unable to sustain a solid run of form. This performance against Bosnia and Herzegovina also halted a two-game winless streak for Spain as the squad had drawn two straight games against Italy and Romania.
Spain and South Korea's history
South Korea and Spain have met five times, with the Spanish coming away victors on three separate occasions. There was one draw and a defeat as well, the latter famously coming in the 2002 World Cup quarterfinals. The most recent tilt between these sides ended in a 4-1 win for Spain.
Prediction
Spain wins the tilt 3-1, feeding off the confidence of its previous game.
