Cuban telenovela actor William Levy will be returning to his native Cuba later this year to work on a new film that he will be producing and starring in.

According to several news reports, the chance of getting to film in Cuba has been a dream of the actor's for years and may become a reality in the next couple of months.

The actor recently took a trip to Cuba, toured the island, met with locals and was scouting for filming locations with producers Jeff Goldberg and Eric Brenner.

"Excellent project on the way for the Latino market," he teased on a photo on Instagram.

For the actor, filming in Cuba is more than just about business but an experience that is very close and personal.

"It's just beautiful to be able to film a movie in my land. When I was there and would walk the streets or play baseball without shoes, and I would look out into the endless sea I used to wish I could go to the United States and just do what I wanted to do," he told E! Online. "Now finding myself back in my country and filming a movie there…that's just something that's so surreal, I can't even begin to explain it."

This would mark the second time that the star heads to Cuba to work on a film-related project. Last year, the actor was part of "Cuban Chrome," a documentary series that told the story of vintage American cars found on Havana.

Levy served as the narrator of the documentary series.
