Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden State Warriors Game 2: What Cavs can do to Bounce Back.
The Cleveland Cavaliers already find themselves in a must-win situation in the NBA Finals before so much as really getting a genuine feel for the Golden State Warriors.
Game 2 is Sunday night, June 5, at Oracle Arena and all the Cavs can be certain of is they can't expect to see the same Warriors' team that drubbed them by 15-points in a Game 1 beatdown.
Curry, Thompson Looking to put Game 1 Struggles Behind
Certainly, there aren't many who believe MVP Steph Curry and All-Star running-mate Klay Thompson will again struggle to score just 20 points combined. On the flipside, LeBron James and Company can only hope the likes of Shaun Livingston and Leandra Barbosa won't combine to net 31 and lead the onslaught.
What history does tell us is James rarely ever loses back to back playoff games. That's good for Cav fans to know, given that teams that have dropped the first two games in Finals history are just 25-3.
With all that, the Cavs will surely come out swinging in Game 2, not to mention still looking to push the pace.
Where is J.R.?
But no matter what style they play, to truly have any chance Cleveland has to find a way to get J.R. Smith back on track. The normally shot happy Smith managed just three in Game 1, finishing with just 3 points in 36 minutes.
For James and Kyrie Irving to be able to get to the basket and into the lane the way the Cavs' offense needs them to, Smith needs to pose more of a threat on the perimeter.
And speaking of a perimeter, the Cavs can hardly afford to rest on their defensive laurels against Curry and Thompson in Game 1 to have any chance come Sunday night.
The Splash Brothers will be coming full throttle in Game 2, meaning the Cavs will again need to be at their defensive best to break their six-game losing streak against the defending champs.
