Romeo Santos Signs With Roc Nation And is Named CEO of Roc Nation Latin
On June 8, in New York City, Romeo Santos, also known as "The King of Bachata," joined Roc Nation Management and was also named the CEO of the company's new Latino division, Roc Nation Latin.
According to a press release, the former Aventura singer, met with rapper, producer, entrepreneur and Roc Nation founder Jay Z to sign his contract with the management company and to begin his new role as CEO.
Roc Nation Latin will be instrumental in finding and developing Latino talent. It will provide artists with the necessary marketing, endorsements and media relations support, both in the United States and internationally.
When it came time to choose someone to lead the new Latin division, Jay Z chose Santos, an internationally successful artist and fellow New Yorker, who understands the culture but also sets trends and standards within it.
“Romeo has had tremendous success as a composer and producer and can spot true talent," said Jay Z, in a statement. "This is a tremendous step for Roc Nation. We recognize there is a huge Latin market that is part of global culture. We’re proud and ready to enter into true partnership with an individual that intimately lives and knows that culture.”
Santos, a Dominican and Puerto Rican talent from The Bronx, praised the Brooklyn rapper and expressed his enthusiasm over his new management and role.
"With this next step and phase in my career I see a great opportunity to give back all that I have learned during the past few years to new talent," said the 34-year-old. "Not only do I idolize Jay Z as an artist but also as a business mogul. Jay Z is a visionary who was able to recognize that in our Latin Culture there is a lot of talent. I am grateful for his trust and that he has seen in me an ally for all Latinos."
Santos joins Shakira and Yandel as Latino musicians managed by the company, which has also supported the careers of Rihanna, J Cole, Big Sean, HAIM, Meek Mill and Kanye West, among others.
